HIGH-PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC MOTOR FILM - TYPE HPMO
MYLAR ® HPMO For The Electric Motor Industry
Product Description
Mylar polyester film type HPMO is a high-performance (HP) version of type MO electrical
insulation film. Tests clearly demonstrate that Mylar HPMO is superior to all standard and
competitive low oligomer motor films in meeting the needs of the electric motor industry.
Mylar HPMO is characterized by a lower extractable content than standard film and has
a thermal and hydrolytic stability surpassing all competitive motor films.
Application
The low extractable content and expectional hydrolytic and thermal stability of Mylar HPMO
make this film ideally suited for use in hermetic and some open motors that experience higher
operating temperatures and/or moisture levels. In addition, tests show that Mylar HPMO
should possess enchanced resistance to high temperature cut through by magnet wire,
which can lead to motor failure during thermal excursions.
Typical Properties
Extractable content of Mylar HPMO, as determined by 24-hr extraction in boiling xylene,
does not exceed 0.5%. Its hydrolytic stability, as measured in boiling water, is twice that
of current standard films and 1.3 times that of all competitive low extractable films.
Thermal stability, as determined in 160 º C (320 º F) air, is five times that of standard films and
twice that of competitive low extractable films. The excellent mechanical properties, forming
capability, shrinkage, delamination resistance, and dielectric properties of Mylar MO are
maintained with HPMO.
