    MICROMETALS IRON POWDER CORE

MICROMETALS, INC. established in 1951, is committed to supplying high quality iron powder cores to meet the needs of the electronics industry. As the technology has changed, new shapes, sizes and materials have been introduced to become industry standards.

The iron powder cores described in Micrometals' catalogues are typically used for DC output chokes, differential-mode input chokes, power factor correction inductors, continuous-mode flyback inductors, light dimmer chokes and other EMI/RFI applications. It is a useful material in the inductry.

There are wide variety of products supplied by Micrometals as follows:

    Core Type

    Size Range

    Toroid T16-T520
    Composite cores ST50-ST200
    E cores E49-E450
    Bus bar HS300-HS400
    U cores U61-U80
    EF cores EF60-EF80
    EM cores EM145-EM220
    Plain cores P852-P6464
    Hollow cores H512-H1616
    Disc D45-D80

Micrometals also provide a wide range of iron powder materials, which are sure to suit your needs of every application on power conversion, line filtering, radio frequency, and so on. These materials are highly reputable of their high endurance on environmental alteration, steady electrical and magnetic properties, low core loss and accurate AL-value .

    Materials are listed as belows:

    Mix# -2:

The low permeability of this material will result in a lower operating AC flux density than with other materials with no additional gap-loss. Mix# -8: This material has low core loss and good linearity under high bias conditions. A good high frequency material. The highest cost material.

    Mix# -18:

This material has low core loss similar to the -8 material with higher permeability and a lower cost. Good DC saturation characteristics. Mix# -26: The most popular material. It is a cost-effective general purpose material that is useful in a wide variety of power conversion and line filter applications.

    Mix# -28:

The good linearity, low cost, and relatively low permeability of this material make it popular in the larger sizes for high power UPS chokes.

    Mix# -33:

An inexpensive alternate to the -8 material for applications where high frequency core loss is not critical. Good linearity with high bias.

    Mix# -40:

The least expensive material. It has characteristics quite similar to the very popular -26 material. Popular in the larger sizes. Mix# -52: This material has lower core loss at high frequency and the same permeability as the -26 material. It is very popular for new high frequency choke designs.

    Mix# -0, -1, -3, -4, -6, -7, -10, -12, -15, -17, & -42

These materials can be used for RF applications. Details are referred to catalogue 3 .
